Edison Pace School has safeguarding and child protection procedures, policy documents and a training programme that incorporates government and policy legislation.

All staff receive annual training in safeguarding and child protection procedures. Parents/carers, social workers, placing Local Authorities and other significant people are offered a copy of the Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy.

Policy guidance sets out clear guidelines and expectations regarding appropriate relationships between all staff and the children. The school provide a caring and professional setting in which the children are given full emotional support without it being detrimental to their safety and wellbeing. All staff are aware of their responsibilities for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.

Designated Safeguarding Lead – K. Fletcher (SENDCo)

Complaints

We are committed to working closely with parents/carers and believe that school and home must work together in partnership, each carrying out our own particular responsibilities to help students gain the most from their time in school.

If you feel that something is not going quite as you would like it to please tell us about it.

The First Step

Please arrange to discuss any concerns with your child’s key worker or member of staff concerned. We hope that most problems can be resolved this way.

The Second Step

If, after speaking to your child’s key worker or staff member, you do not feel that your complaint has been properly dealt with, or if your concern is about the conduct of a particular member of staff, then you should discuss the matter with the appropriate Head of School, in almost all cases we can satisfactorily resolve issues in this way.

Formal Complaint Stage 1

If you feel the concern has not been resolved, you should make a formal written complaint to the Executive Headteacher (unless the complaint is about the conduct of the Executive Headteacher) via email to info@edisonpace.co.uk. You should then receive a written response.

Formal Complaint Stage 2 - Taking Matters Further

If your complaint is about the conduct of the Executive Headteacher, or if you are dissatisfied with the Executive Headteacher’s response to your formal complaint letter, then you will need to contact the school Proprietor via email info@edison-yp.co.uk.

You should send written details of your complaint, with any correspondence and evidence to support your complaint, to the Proprietor.

The Proprietor will investigate your complaint and write to advise you of the outcome.

The Final Stage

The decision of the Proprietor is normally final; however, if you are dissatisfied with the Proprietors’ response, you can take your complaint to a final stage, to an external body. You can contact the Local Government Ombudsman on 0300 0610614 or 0845 6021983, or by email advice@lgo.org.uk or see their website at www.lgo.org.uk/schools
